The Kawana Chamber of Commerce is located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. Kawana is one of the Sunshine Coasts fastest growing communities with many exciting developments underway, blending business, industry, residential and recreational precincts, creating a dynamic environment to live, visit and to do business.

Our Mission

Established in 1986, The Kawana Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to promote and assist local businesses and community organisations to build the business community in the Kawana area and making business connections fun.

The Kawana Chamber of Commerce’s aim is to inspire, educate and connect business people to enable them to be as successful as they can be to build the business community in the Kawana area.

How we deliver

Four special events per annum that attracts Members and Guests from the Sunshine Coast region and connects our Member with a larger audience.  These include our February Ninja Networking event, our KCC Family Car Rally and Easter Egg Hunt, our Christmas in July and our annual December Christmas Party.

Six keynote events that are Kawana centric keeping Members and Guests informed, connected and updated on how they can be leveraging business opportunities and relationships in the area that will grow their business and make them more profitable, productive and focused.

Monthly Member Forums providing our Members the opportunity to present workshops and training to other Members.

Quarterly Stockland Sunset Drinks are a Members Only event that allows our Members to network in a casual, informal environment towards building strong long lasting business relationships and strengthening the KCC Family.

Meet The Executive Team

Paul Anderson

Paul has lived on the Coast for 33 years and originally came to the coast as subdivisional designer with Cardno’s. Paul designed a lot of the then Kawana Estates from Warana to Wurtulla, so I have a good knowledge of the history and background of the area. We based our steel engineering business in Minyama for many years and we delivered drawings to clients across Australia and overseas from that base. Now a real estate agent along with his wife they concentrate on the central coastal strip from Minyama to Wurtulla. Paul is out there every day helping excited families move to the area and is am a strong advocate for this region and wants to continue to promote the business community and aid in the growth of this fantastic world class area. Paul has been an active member on the  KCC Executive for the past 2 years.

Brendon Murray

Brendon Murray is a Partner in the Business Services division of Bentleys Chartered Accountants.  He has been with Bentleys since 2002.

Brendon has a Bachelor of Financial Administration from the University of New England and is a Chartered Accountant.  Having grown up in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales and attended university in Armidale, Brendon has strong connections with rural and regional enterprises and operations.

Brendon has extensive multi-sector experience. He has demonstrated expertise in all areas of public practice accounting including business services, taxation and tax planning, financial strategy, business structures and valuations, together with property transactions and Capital Gains Tax.

Brendon has extensive experience in business sale and purchases, including structuring, stamp duty and GST implications, contract and finance terms, and financing arrangements.

Jenny Lawson

Successful Grants

Jenny Lawson is a grants consultant who has secured millions of dollars in grants, and via business proposals, over the last decade. Matching grants to businesses is her speciality. New to the Kawana Chamber executive, Jenny is also actively involved with Mooloolaba Outrigger Canoe Club and the Sunshine Coast Sports Federation.

Jenny is a sports physiotherapist with 25 years’ experience in management, paediatrics and disability. She and husband Mick moved to the Sunshine Coast 15 years ago, selling her physio clinics to raise their three sons by the beach. She seizes every opportunity to paddle on the ocean and to go camping with her family.

Louise Nousala

Louise has a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from QUT and is a current CPA member. Her accounting career began in public practice in Mooloolaba in 1995, initially as the junior secretary and then as trainee accountant until she completed her university degree in 1997. She continued in public practice to become a senior tax accountant until 2012 when she switched to the private sector within the franchising industry.

Louise currently provides accounting and business support for Smith & Sons Renovations & Extensions franchises in Queensland. In addition, she also runs her own business Accounting Matters which offers training for small business owners in bookkeeping practices and using Xero accounting software.

Louise’s family includes her husband and four children and has lived in the Kawana region since 2006. With her family’s future in mind she supports the aim of the chamber to inspire, educate, and connect businesses to build the business community in Kawana.

Carlos Vaquero
Executive Member

A love for photography, as well as a passion for people and their dreams, is what makes Carlos tick. With vast experience in the photography industry, Carlos is an expert in his field: European fashion events, high society European weddings, top international tradeshows… without mentioning collaborations with companies such as Cosmopolitan Magazine, Vodafone and RE/MAX.

Carlos last adventure involved moving to Australia and exporting his passion and experience to the southern hemisphere.

As a trial blazer of the industry, Carlos believes in building long lasting relationships with his clients by getting to know them, understanding what they love, want and need.

Ian Odendaal
Executive Member

Ian graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa attaining his Bachelor in Dental Surgery in 1996.

Dr Ian Odendaal has worked in South Africa and the United Kingdom before moving to this beautiful country.

Ian and his wife Sunet have 4 children (2 girls and 2 boys), and then intermingle with these 2 dogs and 2 birds and you have a busy household. They like spending family time together walking on the beach or kayaking. Ian also enjoys a glass of good red wine and at times like to experiment making his own beer.

Ian worked for a Charity servicing regional Queensland and found this very rewarding giving back to the community.

Ian has a strong interest in quality dentistry and have extensive experience and knowledge in all areas of General Dentistry.

He attained a Masters Degree at the University of Warwick in the UK and is committed to further professional development. Ian has special interests in surgical dentistry as well as orthopaedic jaw development.

Here at Lake View Dental, we believe in eat well, live well, breath well. Ian also believe that healthy proper breathing through the nose has an impact on our general health and wellbeing.

Ashton Wood
Executive Member

Ashton is well known on the Sunshine Coast for getting involved and helping those who need it, whether it be for local business promotions through social media marketing, general campaign management or even owners of dodgy cars who have been battling with dealerships and need help with a tough conversation with the manufacturer.

Ashton has a strong belief that Chambers thrive when the businesses see the value, so would look to help build that value with the current and future members.

Ashton has previously assisted the Kawana Chamber of Commerce with promotions and support of events and has already presented twice at the Kawana Chamber breakfasts.  Ashton has been a strong supporter of the Kawana Chamber and associated activities in the area for over 2 years.

Kerry Ricketts

Kerry Ricketts is a local resident and business owner in Kawana. He has owned and operated his business Battery Wise and Warana Auto Electrics in Main Drive since 2002 and currently employs 6 full-time staff. He has been an active member of the Kawana Chamber since 2002 and held various positions on the Chamber Executive including President, Vice President, Treasurer, as well as being a general Executive member. He has represented the Chamber on various boards to do with the Kawana Health Precinct and Kawana State College, as well as very supportive with sponsoring of local sports clubs.   The Kawana area is in Kerry’s blood and he will continue to support, promote and assist business in the Kawana  area.
